Our graduates exhibit remarkable outcomes—they’re sharp, they’re self-aware, they freely seek guidance, and they follow their own unique paths. When students leave VCS, not only are they prepared for high school–they are ready, truly ready, for a life full of academic success and personal growth.
Beginning in the spring of their 7th Grade year, students and their families meet individually with our Director of High School Placement to identify schools of interest and gain an overview of the placement process. Throughout the 8th Grade year, the Director of High School Placement continues to provide individual guidance and support to families, while also working directly with graduating students in a weekly High School Placement class where 8th Graders prepare for standardized tests, workshop application essays, reflect on school visits, and develop interview and self-advocacy skills.
Because they take an active role in the placement process, our students graduate feeling self-assured and ready for high school. They look forward to this new chapter in their education, having chosen it with great forethought and in alignment with their talents and ambitions.
As an 8th Grader at VCS, I gained a lot in terms of pulling myself together, thinking about what mattered to me, and planning ahead.”
