Dear Prospective Families,

Welcome to VCS! From the moment you walk down our tree-lined street in the West Village and step into our 84,000-square-foot campus, you will feel the distinct energy that makes our school so special. We are a community school, rooted in the belief that children and families thrive when they are connected to one another. At VCS, community is felt in every interaction, from older students mentoring younger students, to parents coming together to lead a committee, to teachers leading students in lively debate and classwork. 

In our learning spaces, you will see academic rigor and the wonderment of childhood existing side-by-side. You will hear students confidently solving a STEAM challenge with friends, debating a complex idea, or using tools to craft elaborate woodworking projects. Creativity is woven into every element of school life, from the artwork that adorns our hallways to the ways our students think, write, and problem solve. Students at VCS love learning because teachers make each day challenging and exciting. 

I have spent over 25 years at VCS, as a teacher, parent, Division Leader, and now as the Director of Admissions. Over more than two decades, I have seen firsthand how children truly flourish in the inspiring, safe, and inclusive environment we foster where they feel completely safe, known, and respected.
